Infection Resolution Program

Patient Diagnosis

The Laurels’ Infection Resolution Program treats individuals with primary or secondary diagnoses of infection. Diagnoses may include pneumonia, kidney and urinary tract infections, endocarditis, osteomyelitis or septicemia.

Program Design

The Laurels’ Infection Resolution Program coordinates the nursing, dietary, respiratory, pharmacy and laboratory disciplines to assist patients compromised by infection. Services include:

  • Medical assessment

  • Dietary assessment

  • Peripheral or central line maintenance

  • Lab work

  • Aerosol treatments

  • Administration of antibiotics or other medications

The interdisciplinary team meets routinely to establish treatment goals and review progress.

Program Protocol

The Laurels’ Infection Resolution Program is appropriate for adult patients who have:

  • An established diagnosis

  • Completed any invasive procedures

  • Stabilized in their medical condition (e.g. stable cardiac status, no excessive bleeding) or

  • A prognosis of recovery and discharge to a lower level of care

Patients remain in the Infection Resolution Program until established goals are met or until transfer to a lower level of care can occur.

Attending primary care physicians are welcome to follow their patients participating in our Medically Complex Programs. If that is not feasible, a member of The Laurels’ medical staff will attend to the patient.
