Dialysis Support Program

Patient Diagnosis

The Laurels’ Dialysis Support Program offers short-term skilled or long-term residential services designed to meet the needs of end-stage renal disease patients receiving dialysis.

Program Design

Arrangements can be made by The Laurels to transport program participants to area dialysis communities for treatment. Laurel gests who have greater medical needs are transported by ambulance. The Laurels’ staff is trained in the dietary requirements, fluid management and common needs of the end-stage renal population. The Laurels can also offer end-stage renal patients:

  • I.V. antibiotic therapy

  • Enteral nutrition

  • Wound care

  • In-house rehabilitation for any related neurologic disorders and/or general deconditioning

The Laurels’ staff works closely with the guest, family, attending physician, consulting nephrologist and the dialysis community team to deliver a holistic treatment plan to maximize the guest’s quality of life.

Program Protocol

The Laurels’ Dialysis Support Program is appropriate for adult patients who have:

  • An established diagnosis

  • Completed any invasive procedures or

  • Stabilized in their medical condition (e.g. stable cardiac status, no excessive bleeding)

Attending physicians are welcome to follow their patients participating in our Medically Complex Programs. If that is not feasible, a member of The Laurels’ medical staff will attend to the patient.
